Agra – Butter tea probably originated in the Himalayan region between Tibet and the Indian subcontinent. But now in Agra also one can sip butter tea from Baba’s tea shop. The local people have started liking it. It is made from fresh milk, tea, sugar, ground cardamom and butter. Tea lovers will definitely want to try Baba Ki Chai Chai, flavored with a confluence of cardamom and floating melted butter. Butter tea is said to have been invented around the 7th century during the Tang Dynasty of China. At that time the princess of China had married the king of Tibet. After the marriage trade routes were established between China and Tibet which brought tea from China to Tibet. Tibetan yak butter was used for many purposes, so it should come as no surprise that it would have been added to tea as well.
