Agra – There was a time when most of the important businesses of Agra were run by Parsis. Jhansi was also an important center of the Parsi community. In the 20th century, Parsi families came to Agra and Jhansi to work in the railways. Most of the employees of the Central Bank of India belonged to Parsi families. Many Parsis worked as drivers and guards in the railways. Gradually these families became increasingly successful in business in Agra. First hotel in Agra was opened by a Parsi family. Many Parsi engineers from Agra are earning name all over the world. Most people did not marry. Didn’t want more than one child when they got married. Now only a few Parsi families are left in Agra and Jhansi.
