A small concept that started in the humble kitchen of Mrs. Fernandes has now grown into a mouth-watering range. Today, Ferns products are made with local spices and ingredients to ensure that the magical experience that comes with a meal is just like it was in Mrs. Fernandes’ days.
Moving from Goa to Kirkee in Pune, India with her husband in 1927, Mrs. N. Fernandes constantly honed her culinary skills. She prepared and successfully sold preserves and pickles locally. People very quickly fell in love with her unique creations- which included eggplant and lemon pickle, lemon squash and mango jelly. In 1937, through this success, the Ferns brand was born. Her fresh and unique products were very popular among British soldiers and their families living in Pune. They just wanted delicious curries, they didn’t need to make anything themselves – and Mrs Natalin provided them with just that! Pioneering the wet masala curry pastes through her diverse range, her culinary creations became a favourite with locals who wanted to create different dishes using local spices and ingredients! The world has changed over time, but Mrs Natalin’s family continues to carry forward her legacy by producing high quality pastes and pickles with the same zeal as they did in Pune.
