WASHINGTON – Republican candidate Donald Trump did not miss the opportunity to criticize his half-Indian rival Democratic candidate Kamala Harris on the occasion of Diwali festival, a multicultural festival of lights celebrated mainly in the Indian subcontinent. He pledged to protect Hindus living around the world if re-elected US President.
Donald Trump said in a Diwali message on his social account on Thursday, a few days before the presidential election on November 5, “I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians and other minorities in Bangladesh who were attacked and looted by mobs.” More than 400 people died during months of student-led protests in Bangladesh. The crisis forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee to India on August 5.
