On the occasion of World Tourism Day, India’s Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced that soon 100,000 foreign tourists will be exempted from paying visa fees. The first 1 lakh foreigners visiting India will be given free visas under the ChaloIndia campaign, the Tourism Ministry announced on its social network.
In response to the appeal to the NRIs to invite five non-Indian friends to visit India, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has also launched the Chalo India initiative. The program aims to empower the NRIs to serve as ambassadors of Incredible India, which will play a key role in promoting tourism and increasing cultural awareness.
There is no upper limit on the number of foreign friends that members of the diaspora can invite, although it is recommended to invite at least 5 friends based on the call of the Honorable Prime Minister.
The Chalo India website will facilitate the creation of accounts for diaspora members, giving them a platform to join the movement, track their contributions, and stay informed about the programme. This initiative not only promotes tourism but also fosters international goodwill and cultural exchange.
