Radio Ceylon, now called Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, was started in Colombo, the economic capital of Sri Lanka, in 1925. It has long been a bridge between Sri Lanka and the continent. It will celebrate its centenary next year. After independence from the United Kingdom [since 1947], the Colombo Radio Station was a good example of its role as a bridge between the people of South Asia. This radio station was very popular among teenagers. Its Vinaka Geet Mala program was very famous for Amin Sayani’s elegant language and phrase, “sisters and brothers”. Which attracted widespread attention by reversing the usual order of styles in Hindi.
