New Delhi – Twenty rupee bank notes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series, with the inset letter S in both the number panels will be issued soon said Reserve Bank of India.

Design of these banknotes is similar in all respects to the twenty rupees bank notes in the same series issued earlier. All the banknotes in the denomination of 20 rupees issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
RBI will shortly issue Rs 20 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series. New Rs 20 notes have the inset letter ‘S’ in both the number panels and the signature of Urjit Patel RBI Governor.All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by theRBI in the past will continue to be legal tende, the central Bank said in a notification dated 19 July 2017.

Rs20 new bank notes designe will be similar in all aspects to the same series issued earlier, said Reserve Bank. New notes comes with offset printing instead of intaglio printing in earlier version.There is no change in the colour at the reverse, the colour at the obverse is lighter due to removal of intaglio printing.
